Explore the art of decorating with Clay Slips & Sgraffito - 5th December 2026
NZ$225.00
3-4 hour workshop.
Saturday 05/12/2026 | 10am–2pm
Take a hand-thrown terracotta plate and make it entirely your own!
In this decorative clay workshop, you’ll explore the traditional technique of sgraffito — layering colour onto the surface of clay, then carefully carving through it to reveal the rich terracotta beneath.
Working from your own ideas, patterns or illustrations, you’ll build up a design directly onto a beautifully hand-thrown plate made especially for the workshop.
The process is tactile, meditative and wonderfully satisfying, allowing you to play with line, contrast, repetition and detail as your design slowly comes to life.
No previous pottery experience is needed. You can keep your design simple and graphic or create something intricate and highly detailed — the plate becomes your canvas.
Perfect for:
Pattern lovers
Illustrators and doodlers
Anyone drawn to colour and surface decoration
Makers who enjoy slow, detailed creative work
You’ll explore:
